I didn't come up through a marketing degree or a big agency training program. I taught myself, figuring it out by doing it, testing it, and staying obsessed with what actually produced results.
Before I had my own clients, I was being subcontracted by larger agencies to do the actual work behind the scenes. And what I saw from inside that machine changed everything for me. I'd get handed a small project, do a deep dive into the client's business, and by the time the work was done, I genuinely understood their goals, their customers, and what was holding them back. Better than the agency that had been billing them for months ever did.
